Cameron Castrillo is a contemporary artist from the Philippines whose ion for art is deeply rooted in his family's creative legacy. His grandfather, Santiago Castrillo, founded a custom jewelry business that grew into a family tradition, with Cameron’s father and uncles expanding the craft into sculpting.
Growing up in this artistic environment, Cameron was immersed in the intricate processes of metalwork. During his teenage years, he apprenticed alongside his cousins during summer breaks, learning the fundamentals of metal sculpting. This hands-on experience gave him a deep understanding of the meticulous techniques involved, as well as exposure to both figurative and abstract expressions in brass.
One of Cameron’s greatest influences was his uncle, the renowned sculptor Eduardo Castrillo, whose mentorship inspired him to develop his own artistic voice. Today, Cameron Castrillo draws from his rich heritage and expertise in metal sculpting to create works that reflect his unique vision while honoring the family tradition that shaped his artistic journey.
